Clif Bar Review

Clif Bar - ♣♣♣♣♣/5

12-17-07

Finally an energy bar that I can get behind.  After years of fighting off the bad flavor and texture of other energy bars, Clif Bar has the right recipe.  I purchased a couple of Power Bars three years ago and boycotted the craze altogether using only gel packets for trailside snacks.  This year I decided to try Clif Bar and have never looked back.

I eat a Clif Bar every day at approx 3:30 or 4 o’clock for a 5:00 pm ride.  On longer weekend rides I supplement my Clif Shot packets and Nuun energy drink with 1/2 a Clif Bar every hour.  This routine has allowed me to ride longer and harder on a more consistent basis.  For this reason, I’ll recommend these energy bars to anyone.

Positives:  16 flavors to choose from (my favorites are Crunchy Peanut Butter, Chocolate Brownie, Blueberry Crisp, and Banana Nut Bread).  Certified Organic (70% organic ingredients).

Negatives:  Feels like a lot to eat.  Sticky.  Missing a glazed donut flavor.

Price:  $0.95 at REI, $1.25 at the local bike shop, and $1.35 at the local grocery store.  If you want to try all the flavors try REI.
